Cranial Osteopathy

Did your little one deliver very quickly or were they a little slow in arriving? If they are having trouble settling, feeding or sleeping then cranial osteopathy is a very gentle and calming osteopathic technique which is totally safe and appropriate for babies and young children. It can be a very helpful addition to everything you are already doing to help them.

Cranial Osteopathy involves gently holding your baby’s skull and/or other joints in comfortable positions to allow the tissues around those areas to relax. The aim is to relieve your child’s discomfort and improve drainage of fluid around the body. Babies usually enjoy the experience as it is so gentle, comforting and relaxing.

Research is ongoing into the effects of cranial osteopathy on crying and sleeping in infants. Read more

This has positively indicated that cranial osteopathy may have an effect on reducing the hours your baby may spend crying and may also increase the hours they spend asleep.

Your entire family may benefit from osteopathy as Katie has a good understanding of the stresses and strains that birth and childhood can have on your bodies. She is able to give advice and teach you exercises to do with your child to strengthen muscles and improve posture, as well as giving advice on issues such as flat head syndrome, colic and congenital musculoskeletal conditions.
